Pūtaiao - Mahia te Oobleck!
Today (Rāpare) we made Oobleck! We used cornflour, food colouring and some wai. We played with it and we made a BIG mess! Oobleck is a liquid and a solid. Our Oobleck felt squishy, slimy, hard, soft, smooth and gooey all at the same time! It was strange and it was fun. Whaea Rovena will remember the paint-shirts next time! Mō taku hē!

Ahikirīmi!!
On Rāmere (Friday) we made ahikirīmi (ice cream). We put some ice and tote (salt) in a big bag and mixed them. Then we got a small bag and put some miraka, vanilla essence, huka (sugar) and some food colouring inside. Next we put the small bag into the big bag. We shook the bags for 5-10 minutes. The miraka turned into aihikirīmi! The bag was freezing! Then we got to eat our aihikirīmi. We had a few marshmellows with it. It tasted delicious - tino reka!!

Pūtaiao me te Miraka hoki!
On Rāmere we looked at 4 types of miraka for Pūtaiao. They were blue top miraka, coconut miraka, non-homogenised miraka, and condensed miraka. We looked at the colour, and the taste, and how they splashed. We learnt that not all milk comes from a cow. It was fun. Some people felt a bit mauiui after eating lots of condensed miraka. Reka!

Harold the Giraffe from Life Education
On Rāmere and Rāhina we went to see Harold. We learnt about healthy foods that we can eat lots of. Hua rākau (fruit) and hua whenua (veges) will give us energy. Some cereals will too. We looked at some foods that are not healthy for us, like chips and chocolate, and cakes. We can eat these foods sometimes, not all the time. We also learnt the Banana song - we loved it!

Koha ki ō tātou māmā!
We made these cards for Mother's Day. We made putiputi with our hands and coloured paper. In tuhituhi (writing) we have been learning about similes, so we used them in our cards. Similes can make our tuhituhi more interesting. We hope you like them! :-)

Our Pūtaiao mahi!
We are learning about 'dissolving' in Science. We dissolved jelly crystals in hot water, then we dissolved marshmallows in the jelly. Here are our Jelly Pin-Wheels! Reka! :-)
