Kaupapa - Tōku Tīnana! - Kirimoko - Nā Shaun

In kaupapa I have been learning about kirimoko (skin). It was kind of hard because sometimes I would make mistakes and I would try to fix them up.

I created this slide. In my first quarter I wrote down the Māori words for 'I can..." 

In my second quarter I wrote some meka (facts) about skin. 

In my third quarter I had to find a picture of the skin layers and I got to choose which one I wanted.

In my fourth quarter I wrote why my skin is amazing.

Kaeden - Tā Moko - Pānui

In Pānui we've been learning all about Mataora and Niwareka. We had to find 10 facts about Mataora and Niwareka. It was really hard to find the facts because we had to do lots of work. 

We tried our best.

In pānui I watched kiriata and read the stories about Mataora and Niwareka and Tā Moko. Then I made a slide of tā moko facts.

For pānui we have been learning all about Tā Moko, and Mataora and Niwareka. In my group we had to think carefully about our facts. We looked at some really cool docs to find them. It was very hard because sometimes we would make mistakes.

He Rā Tino Mīharo! Rāapa 4th July

On Rāapa 4th July, we had a super fun day. We had manuhiri visit us from Te Waka Unua kura. We also ate lots of delicious kai, and had a fun afternoon reward for the whole school. 

Here are some things we liked best about the day.

Yesterday my whole entire class we got to meet a school. Their school was called Te Waka Unua. It was a long day for me and my class. I got to have a fun day as well. It was a fun day for my class.

Inanahi Te Waka Unua school showed us some cool songs and a haka and so did Hornby Primary! I thought that was cool. We also had a lunch club shout! Haha, it was scrumptious. Nā Mikaere

Inanahi te kurā katōa had rā rekareka. I takaro ahau, māua ko AJ i te beyblades. We had Acid Anubis. Anubis is the best defense type. Nā Marino

Hui - Whakaari - The Fall of Kaiapoi Pā

We shared all of our new learning with the rest of the school in our assembly last Friday. We created a play about the fall of Ngāi Tahu at Kaiapo Pā to Te Rauparaha and his tribe, Ngāti Toa. 

We worked very hard on our play and learning the haka. We would love to know what you thought of our whakaari (play) and this terrible pakanga (battle).

Being a Critical Thinker ~ Nā Te Taonga rātou ko Savannah, ko Emily

For our Kaupapa we are building a pā.

We are being Critical Thinkers while we build.

We are solving problems and thinking carefully.

Here is some evidence - 

We put the watch towers in 2 corners, one facing each way so it’s better to see the front and back incase enemies come.

We put the most special whānau in the whole pā in the whare in the corner so that they can be safe.

Being a Critical Thinker ~ Nā Carez rāua ko Roy

For our Kaupapa we are building a pā.

We are being Critical Thinkers while we build.

We are solving problems and thinking carefully.

Here is some evidence so far -

We put the poupou (carved post) by the kūwaha (entrance) on our
plan so that heaps of people would be frightened by them so
they wouldn’t come in.

We put a secret kūwaha on our plan so that the Māori who
lived there could escape the enemies and the fights.

We made heaps of stuff like our pātaka (storage house).
We had to put tape on the bottom so it would stick on properly.

Now we are getting ready to Hāngaia te Pā - Create a pā! We are very excited.

Kaupapa - Haerenga ki Kaiapoi Pā

On Rāapa 30th Haratua, i haere mātou ki a Kaiapoi Pā. We went to visit a special place called the Kaiapoi Pā. Matua Corban took us on a tour and told us all about what happened here. Whaea Christine had told us all about the pakanga (battle) too. We have been learning all about pā and will be using all our knowledge to create our own pā later in the term.
