Koha from MYOB!!

Today we had staff from MYOB bring us Christmas presents! We are so grateful for these gifts and had lots of fun playing with them today. Ngā mihi nui, MYOB!!

Kaupapa - Ngā Kararehe - Neshaun, Billie, and Rocky

ThingLink: Wuruhi - Wolf

We paper mached a balloon for our kararehe. It took 6 weeks to paper mache and paint the riona, and make the mane. We are really proud of our mahi.

We created a paper mache wuruhi. It was pretty hard because it took a long time and we made a few mistakes. Our wuruhi turned out amazing.

We got to make paper mache wheke. It took us a long time. We think they are really cool!

ASB Manuhiri

Today we had Amy from ASB come and talk to us about pūtea (money) and being 'Cashletes'. We talked about saving money, being safe with money, and shopping around.

For the next 2 weeks we get to develop our kauhoe skills. We're learning heaps from the instructors and having lots of fun!

Kiwican Prize Giving

Today we had our end of term prize giving for Kiwican. Well done to Lucan and Stevie from Rūma 4 for winning a small prize. Well done to everyone for showing integrity - "Do the right thing when nobody is watching!"

Wero o te Wiki - Wiki Tuawhitu

For our Wero o te Wiki we had to make a rōpata - a robot. We were only allowed to use sellotape, 2 x toilet rolls, 1 piece of paper, and some felts. Our rōpata had to stand up on 2 legs by itself. We also had to give it a name. We focused on being good Participators. We were sharing our ideas. We worked as a group. We took turns. We used everyones ideas. We worked as a team. Well done to the Wolverines who won! He mahi pai Stevie, Neshaun, and James :-D

Kiwican

Every Rāhina we head along to visit Katie and Sophie for our Kiwican time. We have been learning all about showing integrity - doing the right thing when noone is watching. This involves showing honesty and taking responsibilty for our actions. We love the activities that demonstrate these skills.

Tuhituhi - Writing Procedures

We have been learning how to write procedures in Rūma Whā. A procedure tells us how to make or do something.

We were also practising how to take photos using the ipads. We used an app called 'Flick' to flick the pictures onto Whaea Rovena's computer from the ipads. This was the first time we had ever done this before, next time we will be even better! It was pretty tricky!

 Here is a procedure we wrote as a class about how to make toast.

 

 

Wero o te Wiki - wero tuawhā

On Rāpare our 'Wero o te Wiki' was to make an egg parachute. We had to create a parachute and a basket to save an egg from cracking. We used a plastic bag, paper towels, straws, ice cream sticks and sellotape. We had to drop the egg parachute 2m from the ground. We had to show Critical Thinking skills - we had to plan before we made our parachute. We also had to be Participators - we needed to share our ideas and let others join in. Well done to the Wolverines, they were the only rōpu who didn't crack their egg when they dropped it! Ka pai Stevie, Neshaun, and James.
